Hot Air Balloon Ride Over - Reading |
|
| |
"Few towns are less prepossessing at first glance than Reading ... but few towns better repay exploration." - Sir John Betjeman, English Counties, Betjeman's Britain. What was true for the great chronicler of the very best of Britain in the 1930's, when Betjeman travelled the area, is still very true today. Although it is doubtful if Oscar Wilde would have concurred when one reads his infamous, 'Ballad of Reading Gaol', penned whilst retained there for reasons of 'health'! Surrounded by beautiful countryside and picturesque villages, Reading is the embodiment of over a thousand years of history encompassed by the modern aesthetics of a vibrant cosmopolitan city. The capital of the Thames Valley, with its Victorian red-brick houses nestling beside beautiful medieval churches and famous old coaching inns sitting opposite high-tech office buildings, offers a surprise around every corner. It is inevitable that the meandering, young Thames will lie beneath you for some or maybe all of your flight, leading you on to famous picturesque villages such as Henley or Marlow perhaps. Our launch site is situated at the Rowbarge Inn.
