Ashford in the Water is situated on the A6 between
Bakewell and Buxton. Please follow the Virgin A board signs
to the launch field at Highfields Farm. (The signs are only
A4 size to comply with the Peak National Park regulations).
Highfields Farm is situated off Vicarage Lane.
Signs will be in place approximately 30 minutes prior to the
flight meeting time.
Please park in the launch field, do not park in the housing
estate or on the surrounding roads.

Although, sadly, our Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch site fails to get a mention in the Domesday Book, Ashford in the Water most certainly does.

Set within a limestone ravine of the beautiful River Wye, deep within the Peak District National Park, the host village of our Derbyshire launch site is as picturesque as any you might find in England.

Quaint stone-built cottages sit side-by-side in picture-postcard splendour, while in the village centre stands the magnificent Riverside House, an ivy-clad Georgian mansion.

Lying virtually west of Buxton en-route to Bakewell our launch site offers the perfect base for over-flying the impressive, rugged landscapes of the Derbyshire Dales.

Landmark beauty spots such as Lathkill, and Dovedale are but two of the finest you are likely to look down upon in flight, whilst the Chatsworth estate, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall are equally likely to disappear beneath the basket as you skim the glorious countryside.

Those seeking a little added luxury might like to book a room at Riverside House, the ideal place in which to curl up with a book or enjoy an exquisite meal, prepared with the finest of local game or fish and complimented by wonderful wines.
