Balloons Over - South Brent |
|
| |
Devon is, of course, the land of cream-teas and dare we say, the widest choice of Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch sites in any county, blessed with no less than eight carefully selected locations from which to explore the beauty of this glorious part of the country. Five miles northeast of Ivybridge and six miles west of Totnes is our Virgin launch site at South Brent, serviced by the wonderfully romantic South Devon Railway. The town nestles in the valley of the small river Avon in the southeast corner of the beautiful Dartmoor Forest, where the hills rise boldly from the valleys of the Avon and the Erme. South Brent, formerly a market town, still holds two annual fairs on the last Tuesdays in April and September the former called the lamb and the latter the goose fair. Surrounded on all sides by open farmland and hills peppered with the odd relic or ruin, South Brent enjoys a wealth of natural, undulating beauty over which to drift on a fresh Devon morning or lazy, balmy dusk. Fringing the Dartmoor National Park with its many rivers, lakes, ancient ruins and Tors, as well as the famous Dartmoor prison, the site offers wonderfully rich, all-season scenery to feed the soul virtually all year round.
