Hot Air Ballooning Over - Ludlow

Shropshire, standing proudly on the Welsh borderlands, is one of England's three remaining rural idylls and without doubt, one of the most beautiful areas in the country.

Located on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Ludlow, our launch site is ideally located for those seeking to explore this wonderful county from the air.

Within minutes of take-off you might find that your flight follows the path of the River Teme, upon which Ludlow lies, on and across the outstanding countryside of south Shropshire and the Welsh Marches.

Home to one of the largest parish churches in the country and containing a magnificent ruined castle, Ludlow is no mere support act for nearby Shrewsbury, it has pedigree of its own!

Roger de Montgomery, who built the Shrewsbury Abbey, erected the greatest part of the castle in Ludlow although the date of its origin is not known exactly, but the architecture suggests that some parts of the castle date from the late 11th century.

In keeping with the gregarious nature of its inhabitants, Ludlow plays host to a range of cultural festivals; including the annual Shakespeare Festival and the Ludlow Festival of Crafts, which both take place in the castle grounds. In addition, the Ludlow & Marches Food and Drink Festival also take place here where the town's splendid local produce is showcased.

A leisurely flight over this historic market town and beyond to the rich surrounding countryside of Shropshire and the Welsh Marches is guaranteed to last long in the memory.
