Devon is, of course, the land of cream-teas and dare we say, the widest choice of Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch sites in any county, blessed with no less than eight carefully selected locations from which to explore the beauty of this glorious part of the country. Enjoying a prominent position above the sublime river Dart, Totnes is indeed one of Devon's priceless gems, a town rich in both colour and character, stemming from a vibrant cultural, historical and archaeological heritage. Totnes is an excellent base point from which to climb gently into the sky, explore and later return to post-flight. Complete with a steamer quay, Norman castle, ancient guildhall and the timeless north and south gates, Totnes offers up an architectural feast for those interested in historic buildings. Locations inland from our Virgin Hot Air Balloon launch site may well lead you to exchange a friendly wave from the basket with the welcoming monks of the magnificent Buckfast Abbey, a living Benedictine Monastery set in the beautiful Dart valley. Alternatively you might find yourself gently drifting over ancient stannary towns such as Ashburton. Further north and you are likely to gaze down on St Leonard's Tower rising like a needle from the centre of the lively, bustling town of Newton Abbot, with its working malthouse! Nowhere are you likely to encounter such diversity and beauty as in this quiet corner of Devon and nowhere will you be made to feel so welcome.
