| They
already have their eyes peeled on the ground. Now
the National Neighbourhood Watch will get an incredible
bird’s-eye-view of the community.
It’s all thanks to unlikely
benefactor Virgin Balloon Flights which has promised
a balloon ride to each of the NNWA’s UK
regions in recognition of volunteers’ tireless
work in 2005 Year Of The Volunteer.
Members are now left to decide who gets to hop
in the balloon basket for an unforgettable trip
of a lifetime.
“We’re extremely grateful to Virgin
Balloon Flights for this generous gift –
it has really given us a lift,” NNWA spokesman
Nigel Davies said.
“We’ve yet to decide who will go
on the flights, but I’m sure there will
be no shortage of takers!”
Each flight booked will help support the fight
against crime with £10 going to Neighbourhood
Watch.
Virgin Balloon Flights spokesman Alex Hardie
says the company, which has more than 100 launch
sites all over the UK, is delighted to be supporting
the work of Neighbourhood Watch:
“National Neighbourhood Watch is a wonderful
charity. We wanted to give members an opportunity
to see places as they have never seen them before,
while recognising their tireless work in the community,
and there’s nothing like a hot air balloon
flight for that. We’re also thrilled to
be able to pledge £10 from every balloon
flight sold to the charity.”
